THE SPECTRUM PARENTS NETWORK™ · FOR THE CLIFF ERA
When school ends, the next chapter starts here.
The Neuro-Independent Development Program™ is a 12-week, guide-led program that helps autistic young adults, 18–25, build the words, routines and confidence for independent life, with the people who love them walking alongside.

THE CLIFF ERA
Even if they want to connect, they don’t always have the words yet.
Somewhere in the early twenties, the school-based supports end. The routines, the aides, the built-in structure fall away all at once. Many families call it the cliff.
Your young adult may understand far more than they can say. They may want friends, work, college or a place of their own, and not yet know how to get there. You may be exhausted from carrying the plan alone.
This program gives both of you a structure to lean on: small, steady skills, practiced safely, until they carry into real life.

WHY I BUILT THIS
It started at my kitchen table.
After graduating high school, my son went to college. He attended every class, joined activities and made a few friends. He even earned a 93 on a paper he wrote on his own. The problem was he only turned in a handful of assignments. This didn't prove to me that he couldn't do it. It proved that he needed more support than college offered.
So we built our own semester where we: created routines, learned six dishes he can cook on his own, earned several Canva and AI certifications, developed presentation skills, and started attending a men’s small group he now loves. Nearing the end of our 12 weeks, our conversations were better, more frequent, and more from the heart. His heart. I listened to him and learned so much. Eventually, he shared with me that his greatest challenge was that he could understand conversations but struggled to get the words out, so most of the time he just doesn't say anything. Or goes off into his own world (stimming). Overcoming that challenge became the heart of this program. It is my hope that every participant gets to use this program to create their own special moments of growth and success.

HOW IT WORKS
Twelve weeks. Four phases. One skill at a time.
Each week follows the same rhythm: learn it in a short lesson, practice it in Spectrum Social, then try it in real life.

Foundation & Quick Wins
Morning and evening routines, a first win they choose, and three goals of their own.
WEEKS 4–6
Voice & Presence
Tools for getting words out, reading body language, and a Stim Plan built on choice.
WEEKS 7–9
Applied Integration
Boundaries, meal planning, errands and a real community step.
WEEKS 10–12

FAQ's
What parents ask first...
Is this therapy?
No. It’s an educational, skill-building program. It works alongside therapy, speech and occupational therapy, and school or agency services, and it never replaces them.
Who is it for?
Autistic young adults, 18–25, and the parent, caregiver or educator who guides them. Your young adult doesn’t need to be speaking fluently to start.
How much time does it take each week?
About an hour of guided lesson time, two or three short practice sessions of 15–20 minutes, and small daily life-skill steps.
What if my young adult isn’t ready for video?
They can start with text practice. The video partner is there when they’re ready, and taking a break is always allowed.
What happens after 12 weeks?
Many families go through a second cycle with new goals and harder practice. Your Spectrum Social access continues for the full first year.
Can our school or agency use it?
Yes. Choose the schools and agencies option and we’ll design a consultation around your program.
